Marcum LLP Names Paul T. Sherman Partner-in-Charge of New York City Office
NEW YORK – July 12, 2011 – Paul T. Sherman, CPA, Chief Operating Officer of Marcum LLP, has been named Partner-in-Charge of Marcum's New York City office. He will be responsible for managing office operations, supervising staff, enhancing operating efficiencies and continuing to expand its growing client base. As an integral part of the firm's leadership team, Mr. Sherman will continue to serve as chief operating officer overseeing operations, systems integration and efficiency improvements firm-wide.

Weiner. “Paul has been an invaluable member of our executive suite as COO and will continue to help move our firm forward as the Partner-In-Charge of the New York City office.”
A seasoned accountant, Mr. Sherman works closely with middle-market clients providing business and tax consulting services. He has led numerous audit and tax engagements involving public and private companies and has conducted due diligence reviews in connection with mergers and acquisitions as well as accounting. Mr. Sherman served as a lead member of an exclusive investigatory team that performed special assignments for the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC). In addition, he has provided tax and consulting services to entrepreneurial businesses with a specific emphasis on outsourcing the chief financial officer functions for these companies.
Mr. Sherman was appointed chief operating officer in 2010 after serving as Marcum's Firm-wide Partner-in-Charge of Human Resources, managing all aspects of recruitment, compensation, career development, benefits administration and personnel policy development. Before this, he served as Administrative Partner for the firm's New York City office. Mr. Sherman joined Marcum in 1994.
Mr. Sherman is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) and the New York State Society of Certified Public Accountants (NYSSCPA) where he served as Past Chairman of its Banks and Savings Institutions Committee and Ethics Committee. He is also a member of the Accountants Club of America.
Mr. Sherman received a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from Queens College. He resides in Jericho, New York and is active with community initiatives and the local school district.
