Marcum LLP Names Carolyn Mazzenga Partner-In-Charge for Long Island Office
Carolyn Mazzenga, CPA, has been named partner-in-charge of Marcum LLP’s Melville, New York office. As an integral part of the firm’s leadership team, Mazzenga will be responsible for overseeing the growth of the firm’s Long Island operations.
“Carolyn’s background in business development and management makes her an excellent choice to lead the Long Island office and enhance the success of the Firm as a whole,” stated Jeffrey M. Weiner, managing partner of Marcum LLP. “Carolyn is a great strategic leader who is dedicated to client service and committed to community involvement and women’s initiatives,” continued Weiner.
While taking on this new challenge, Mazzenga will continue to serve as the partner-in-charge of the firm’s Family Wealth Services group. In this capacity, she oversees staff responsible for providing an enhanced level of financial management, specialized capabilities and professional expertise to high-net-worth families. She also assists hedge fund managers with personal and business income tax solutions.
Mazzenga is well-known within the professional women’s communities on Long Island. In 2009, the Long Island Business News named Mazzenga Who’s Who in Women in Professional Services and in 2004 inducted her into its Long Island’s Top 50 Women Hall of Fame. In addition, Mazzenga is past president of The Long Island Center for Business and Professional Women. In 1998, the organization honored Mazzenga with its Annual Women in Business Achievers Award.
Leveraging her notoriety in the women’s business community, Mazzenga was instrumental in launching the Marcum Women’s Leadership Development Program, a cutting-edge initiative to help promote and nourish the careers of the firm’s female managers and partners. In addition, Mazzenga serves as a mentor for several firm managers and provides specialized tax training.
Mazzenga is also known for her philanthropic involvements. For the past four years, Mazzenga has been serving on the Board of Directors for Long Island Cares and is a former board member of the Nassau County Girl Scouts. Her professional memberships include the American Society of Certified Public Accountants and the New York State Society of Public Accountants. She has also authored numerous articles and speaks before professional organizations on tax, estate and succession planning topics. Mazzenga has been quoted in several publications on work-life balance, flexible scheduling and women’s initiatives.
Prior to joining Marcum in 1991, Mazzenga operated her own practice providing services to small, mid-sized and women-owned businesses as well as high-net-worth individuals. Earlier in her career, she spent 10 years with a “Big Four” accounting firm.
